Generation 2 - Chapter 12
While Anna advanced in her pregnancy and in her confusion about Neil and Remington, the latter had his hands full with the final stage of the renovation. The constructors had worked very hard to put railings to the roof and stairs to the towers.

Inside one of the towers a romantic love nest had been created. The other was transformed into a poolroom.

In the second floor, almost all bedrooms were redecorated and Barbara now had her own bathroom. She slept in the large room at the back of the house.

In the first floor, the living room and the TV room were redecorated. New floors were done in the music room. All in all, it had been quite a job to change their house.

Anna however hardly noticed she lived in a changed house. She kept very much to herself, not only because this pregnancy was hard on her, but even more because she was still very confused about finding out Neil’s secret life. She hardly dared to look back at her marriage with Neil, because guilt and anger made her just want to forget. On the other hand, she hardly dared to look at the future. Her future with Remington. But who could give her guarantees that he wasn’t hiding some secret from her?
At some moments Anna tried to take more distance from the matter, look at it from another perspective. Her suspicions about Remington seemed a bit paranoia, but what if they turned out to be true? What if her worst nightmare would turn out to be true: that Remington had been involved with Neil’s cow accident?
Anna had noticed Remington started to behave differently since a couple of months. Maybe it was just that he was tired with the renovation, maybe because he sensed Anna was bothered with something, maybe because he felt they were after him. Who could tell?
Despite her fears and her insecurity, Anna knew it was best she told Remington what she had found out about Neil and how it affected her. If anything she had learned from her marriage with Neil that avoiding communication was a sure recipe for a bad marriage.
So one night she gathered all her courage and asked Remington to come sit with her. Remington immediately sat down next to her and wanted to know if anything was wrong. He told her he had seen she was obviously struggling with something.

Anna took a deep breath and told Remington about Neil, about his criminal activities, his drug smuggling. She also told him that it had been Felicia who had told her all that, but she didn’t tell Remington how Felicia had found out. Remington asked about it, but Anna wasn’t sure it was a wise thing to tell him.
After Anna had become silent again, Remington asked her how she was doing, really doing. Anna was touched because he seemed seriously interested in her. She wanted so much to believe that there was no way Remington was doing an act with her, that she told him about her insecurity, her feelings of guilt and betrayal.
“Would it help you if you knew what has really happened to Neil and who were involved in his death?” Remington wanted to know.
“Yes, of course. Maybe I wouldn’t have to feel so guilty towards him about my own secrets and the end of our marriage. And if I could learn the whole truth, I would want to know all of it, including who set up his meeting with the cow plant.”
“Dear Anna, I would really want to help you on this. Can I, no, may I help you get to know the truth about Neil and his death?”
“Why would you want that?” All of a sudden all Anna’s doubts and insecurities had returned. “You have only benefited from Neil’s death and it might be dangerous too.”
“If it is dangerous, I would rather go after the truth myself. I love you too much to put your life in danger in any way. Please let me go after it, to restore your peace of mind. And because I love you so much.”
Anna looked into Remington’s eyes when he said those last words. She knew she loved this man with all her heart. Until recently, noone had made her as happy as Remington.
Anna couldn’t resist the look on Remington’s face and gave in. She accepted his offer of helping her to find the truth.
“How would you go after the truth?” Anna wanted to know

“I have got pretty bored with being a politician. I know I didn’t get to be a Major yet, but maybe I don’t want to get there at all. Maybe I want to feel like I do something good more directly. Maybe entering law enforcement would be a great move for me. If I ask Felicia, maybe I could work in her team and join her investigations after Neil’s criminal organisation. This would give me the opportunity to bring in the man who killed Neil and who knows about Neil’s secret life.”
Anna felt Remington’s change of career might really help her solve her problem. And if he thought it was good for him too, why should she stop him.
Soon after, Remington contacted Felicia who was glad with the help Remington offered. Although he had’t been to the police academy, his experience as a politician could be an important help too.
When it was his first working day in law enforcement, Anna remembered she had offered Felicia some notes about the drug Florazepam. She immediately went to look for it and gave it to Remington. She was still hoping she was doing the right thing in trusting Remington.

When Remington had gone to work, and Beau and Barbara were off to school, Anna went to the bedroom and thought about Remington. The look in his eyes when he said he wanted to help had changed something for Anna. She still had her doubts, but she was trying to ignore them, willing to believe in Remington’s goodness.

If only she thought about the times Remington had played chess with Barbara, how patiently he had explained the rules. The jokes and fun the two of them had while playing, Remington seemed a loving father in every way.

Remington had never skipped one birthday, not from Neil’s kids and not from his own. Brendan’s birthday, though being a very small party, had been a nice family gathering mainly because of Remington’s efforts. Anna was too tired to think about cake and presents at all. When the birthday came, Remington really had thought about everything and made it a very special day for Brendan and the family.

Remington had been very excited about Brendan becoming a toddler and he couldn’t be prouder of his son.

Name: Brendan Flowers
Zodiac sign: Cancer
Personality: 9 Neat - 4 Outgoing - 2 Active - 4 Playful - 9 Neat
Without complaining at all, Remington helped Anna with the nursing of Brendan too. He bathed him and helped him learn the basic skills his son would need. Even though Remington was working very hard to keep his job in law enforcement.

All in all, Remington seemed to be the perfect husband and father. Anna wanted to hold on to that thought, hoping that time wouldn’t tell otherwise.

Oh well, Anna sure is quite a thoughtful girl and torn in between, you can sense that. But I wouldn’t say Remington has anything to hide. It just wouldn’t fit. I hope…

Just coming by again. Your legacy has me hooked. Nothing like a good soap opera.
Keep up the great work!

Hi Karin, I like how this story is developing. Remington seems too good to be true! I hope he’s able to uncover more details about Neil, so Anna can get her peace of mind. I look forward to more!

Oh, and that’s a really cool house — very unique. Love the towers!
