Generation 2 - Chapter 10

August 10, 2005

Life continued peacefully for the Flowers family. While Remington was working hard as a politician, Anna had most weekdays off and had enough time to spend with her daughter Barbara. After giving birth to two sons, a little girl in the house was a welcome change. She just couldn’t get enough of the cute giggle whenever she tickled Barbara.

Anna and Barbara

Basil and Beau both went to high school now and had very much their own lifes. Basil was still busy trying to impress the girls. Anna expected him to go to college very soon now. She knew he just needed some more space.

Beau enjoyed going to highschool and tried to make many friends. And he wasn’t satisfied with plain friendship, he wanted to be best friends with everyone. He was a nice and outgoing boy, who could make people smile through his jokes and plays.

A maid and a gardener took care of the house, so there was enough leisure time for Anna. She enjoyed swimming, both because it was relaxing and because it helped her remaining in good shape. She was much more at ease with Remington as her husband and she felt more loved than she had ever been. Anna knew Remington wanted to have more children and she would like that too. Sometimes she would think for a moment about Neil, about his death and her lies to him. Then she would feel a little guilt, but she soon turned her thoughts to more pleasant things and managed to forget about him for some time.

The day Basil went to college came even sooner than Anna had expected. That afternoon when he returned from school, he had once more the highest grades. Moreover he had collected enough scholarships to go to college quite indepently from his parents. He decided that the time had come to say goodbye to his mother and Remington and to welcome the world of Academie Le Tour.

Basil has good grades

Before Basil entered the cab, Anna told him once again about the dorm and the Greek House she had lived in during college. And of course she mentioned Ria’s place as the hottest place on campus. Basil didn’t believe that a cafe with that name could ever be hot in the first place and wanted very much to find his own way. He did however write down the adress of the Greek House and the dorm, just in case.

Basil to college

When the cab arrived, Basil jumped inside immediately. Anna followed him, her firstborn, to wave goodbye. Before the cab drove off, she asked him to call her as soon as he arrived at Academie Le Tour. With tears in her eyes, she then saw the cab drive away, with her son, her little Basil. She knew he was a smart kid, but it was her first. She just had to let go now, but that was easier said than done.

Anna waves goodbye

To try fill the void in her heart, she went over to the nursery and tought little Barbara to walk. The little girl was very happy with the attention from her mother and she was too little to see her mother wasn’t focussed completely. Barbara learned very quickly to walk without her mother holding her hands and enjoyed how much easier it was now to explore the world.

Teaching Barbara to walk

As soon as Remington came home, Anna took him aside and told him about Basil. Remington could tell she felt empty and lonely and started to comfort her. He knew it wouldn’t make her forget about her son, but Anna’s mind would be put to other things.

Soon, the comforting aroused other interests in both spouses and they went to the bedroom and undressed. Anna stroked Remington gently on his cheek.
“Why are you so nice to me?” Anna asked him. “I was really down this afternoon and you haven’t stopped trying to comfort me.”
“Because I love you and because you are very sweet to me too. I am so glad we found each other and I have never been more in love in my life.”
“I love you too, love. With all my heart.” Anna said.

But these last words were silenced by the passionate kissing of Anna and Remington. While making out, Anna led Remington slowly to their bed.

Making out

And then they made WooHoo. It felt to both like it was their first time together, because it seemed like they were connected on another level.

Like first time

(Note: Although Remington was definetely Barbara’s father and he and Anna had made WooHoo when Neil was still alive, still the icon showed after this WooHoo much to my surprise. It probably has to do with the fact that this is the first WooHoo after their marriage or something.)

Not very long after this romantic night, Anna felt sick in the mornings. This was really too familiar and she was quite certain she was pregnant for the fourth time. Remington was overjoyed with the news of becoming a father again.

Anna pregnant again

Beau seemed to be pleased too. Only recently he had realized that being best friends with his siblings would contribute greatly to his wants.

Beau and Barbara

Anna hadn’t heard from Basil, so she decided that this news was a good occasion for trying to call him herself. She learned he had moved into the same dorm where she had lived at first. He liked it because it was small, but Basil was already on the lookout for a house of his own. He wasn’t much interested in the Greek House, but in having privacy.

He also told her that he had changed his looks a bit. He didn’t want to look like a highschool teenager anymore. Besides his different haircut, he had also taken a beard. Anna was very curious to see her son, but she wisely didn’t say so. She was wondering how his college career would go and wanted him to feel confident. Basil wouldn’t need a nagging mom.

Change of Basil's looks

Remington continued to work hard and made more promotions in his political career. Some nights he just had to prepare a speech that he would held the next day. Anna sometimes came over to hear what he had to say, but sometimes Remington would only be talking to himself.

Remington working on his career

Although he had become a pretty busy man, Remington always made time for his daughter and loved her very much. He was very proud of his little girl and cuddled her as much as he could.

Remington and Barbara

At the same time, Remington was looking forward very much to the birth of another baby. He still had to wait some more, but he already tried to connect with the baby by telling silly stories.

Remington and Beau were also more used to each other and one day, Beau asked Remington to help him with his mechanical skills. Remington felt very honoured to be asked this favour by his stepson and immediately offered his help. Under his supervision, Beau trained on the surgical station and learned all the necessary details for another scholarship.

Both were very happy with how they had worked together and they started to talk a typical male conversation: about soccer. Anna watched the two of them silently through the open door and was very happy with what she saw. She realized she was very blessed to have a son who respected his stepfather enough to ask him for help and to talk with him about his interests. On tiptoes she went away, because she didn’t want to disturb this special moment.

Then Barbara had another birthday and became a child. Anna and Remington had decided to throw a small party and invited Basil and their best friends. Proudly, Anna brought her daughter to the cake and made her a wish. After Anna had blown out the candles, Barbara grew up to be a nice sweet girl.

Barbara's birthday

When the party was over, Anna hugged Felicia and thanked her for coming. Although they were still best of friends, they hadn’t been able to see each other as much as they had wished for.

Suddenly Felicia told Anna she would come by very soon, because she had important news. All she wanted to say about it was that she had discovered, through her job, that there had been something about Neil. She didn’t want to spoil the party, so she didn’t say more.

Anna and Felicia

Felicia went away, leaving a very silent Anna. She really didn’t know what to say and she hated that Felicia had mentioned something had been the matter with Neil. What could it have been? she asked herself over and over again.
