Generation 2 - Chapter 3
“Hallo”
“Felicia, this is me, Anna. I really have to talk to you.”
“Calm down, Anna. Please tell me what’s going on.”
“Oh, Felicia. something terrible happened.”

“Oh no, tell me. Is it Basil and Beau? Are the boys alright?”
“Yeah, yeah, they’re fine. They are lovely little boys enjoying playing together.”

“Well, is it Neil then?”
To be honest, he isn’t a big help, but that’s not what’s terrible. I mean, he really grew fat the last weeks and I have to admit he’s starting to digust me.

He has forgotten about his promiss to spend time with the kids. It’s just painting, working, painting, working. It’s driving me crazy. He made it to the top of the artist career, made 100K and still it’s not enough.
It made me feel like I had no energy to plan a birthday for little Beau, so he just grew up without any festivities.

And when we are having dinner as a family, all he can talk about is the stock market and his money making. He isn’t interested in Basil’s stories about school and he hasn’t really paid attention to me. Not ever since we had the conversation where he promissed he would change.

But that is not the worst part.”
“Anna, for crying out loud, what is the worst part, what is terrible? Please, tell me!”
“I flirted with someone else.”
“WHAT? Who is it? How come?” Felicia shouted into the phone.
“Maybe I’d better start telling from the beginning. It was just one of these mornings, when I was bored to death. Basil and Beau were at school, Neil was at work and I was watching a soap opera on television. You know, since I have become an ecological guru, I hardly have to go to work any more. Well, anyway, our maid came at 10 o’clock as usual and started to clean. You have to know, our maid is a man, Remington Harris and he is really nice. So I decided to talk to him and we did get along very well. But then, there was this tension between us and suddenly I found myself flirting with…”
“With the Remington Harris? With the maid?”
“Yes, yes, I was flirting with him.”

“OMG, Anna, how could you? With a MAID?”
“I have to admit he is very nice and he has this wavy brown hair,” Anna was defending Remington.
“Stop, Anna! You’re being a fool. Please, tell me this is all there is to know, right?”
“No really, he did respond to my flirtations and soon we were whispering some things in each others ears and I think he really likes me.”

“I think this calls for an emergency meeting. Can we meet each other at the mall at, say, 4 PM. OMG, you really got yourself in some mess.”
“4 PM, yes, I can make it. I don’t know what to do now.”
“Just be there. We will think of something,” Felicia said before she hangs up.
Anna went to her bedroom, the room where all the flirting happened, and looked at herself in the mirror. She saw the excitement on her face, but she also saw herself with Remington’s eyes. He had whispered to her how beautiful she was. Neil hadn’t said something like that in a million years and he just went his own way. Remington was being nice, made her compliments and paid attention to her.
However, she was married to Neil, he was the father of Basil and Beau, he had provided her with everything she needed to have a nice house. And yet, these flirtations with Remington, an ordinary maid, had changed something in her. She definitely had a crush on him, but she was unsure if she wanted to follow her heart. Then she would have a heavy price to pay: divorce, hurting her children, hurting Neil. She just wished Felicia knew what to do, because she was getting more confused by the minute.
She heard Basil and Beau coming home from school, so she gussyed up quickly and left her bedroom.

At 4 PM anna was at the mall and soon found Felicia. She had changed her hair and looked a bit more mature. Anna was glad her friend was there for her and they kissed each other on the cheek. They sat down on a bench outside the mall and Felicia asked Anna to tell the story once again. And so she did. When Anna was finished, Felicia was quiet for a while.
“How serious is this flirting with Remington, Anna?” Felicia asked nicely.
“How serious. Well, it just happened once, but it really upset me a lot. I don’t know exactly why it upsets me, probably because he shows me what I miss with Neil. The attention, the niceness. I mean, even about something as stupid as the weather I can talk with more depth with Remington.”

“Do you still love Neil?” Felicia wanted to know.
“In a way, I do. I love him for giving me Basil and Beau. I love him for making my college years more interesting. To a certain level, I even love him for all the things he has given the family, the house, the furniture. But that is where I’m feeling hurt by him too. Because sometimes I think he loves the furniture and the moneymaking more than he loves me.”
“Oh Anna, I’m so sorry for you. I’m so sorry to hear you say this, but I know in my heart it’s true.” Felicia’s heart went out to her friend.
“Felicia, I don’t know what to do. Part of me wants to divorce Neil and fly away with Remington to the other end of the earth and start a life with him.

But that would mean I’d have to leave Basil and Beau and I couldn’t do that, never!”
“Do you think you can be happy again and enjoy your kids, while you stay with Neil then?”
“I don’t think I could do that. I would become crazy or something. Especially now that Remington has shown me what I miss so badly in my marriage with Neil.”
“Maybe, you should try to forget about Remington for a while and concentrate on yourself and your boys and try to get divorced from Neil. Maybe you will know better what you want and get the thing with Remington more in perspective,” Felicia suggests, “after all, you only flirted once. He has been in your house daily, but you don’t really know him.”
“I think that your suggestion is a very good one, but I can’t just let go of Remington. I will still see him everyday and I just need to find out what he is like and what this crush on him really is.” Anna replies.
Both women are quiet for a while.
Then Anna speaks first: “Thanks, Felicia, for listening to me and helping me straightening thing out.”
“You’re welcome, Anna. I just hope you will be happy once again, by yourself and hopefully with a loving guy by your side.”
“I have to go now. Say hi to Houston for me.”
“I will. Keep me posted.”
“Of course.”

Poor girl … *sniffle* What is WRONG with her so-called “husband”? Doesn’t he realize that he’s losing his family? Does he even CARE?! *sniffle*

Oh wow, great update!
I have to say it though, who can blame the poor woman? She’s being totally neglected by her husband. She’s got to do everything on her own, OF COURSE she would feel something to have some attention. Anyone would. I don’t think she should be herself up over it. I say, ditch Neil and hook up with Remington…who cares if he’s the maid

Well, you know what they say. When a person strays in their marriage, they are always looking for something in that new relationship that is lacking at home. Poor Anna!

I can’t blame Anna for flirting with Remington. If she’s not getting what she needs at home, it’s understandable she’d seek it somewhere. Maybe she will find actual happiness with Remington. Who knows.
