Generation 2 - Chapter 1

July 25, 2005

Anna had witnessed some births during her time at the hospital. But experiencing one herself is a different story all together. She had never known it would hurt as much and she clamped her belly in pain. How long did she have to endure this?

Anna in labour

Neil wasn’t much of a help. He had been busy working on his charisma in his quest for becoming an Icon. He hadn’t read one single book about pregnancies and babies and he was paralyzed at the event. Anna snapped at him that he had to call the midwife and he did as he had been told. Soon the midwife arrived and helped deliver the baby. During all this time, Neil did nothing but watching and sighing like he was giving birth himself.

After one final big push, Anna felt something leave her body and crying filled her ears. Her baby was born. “A boy!” the midwife told her. She immediately held the little boy in her arms and named him Basil. Basil had Neil’s skin and probably his eyes too. The blond hair didn’t come as a surprise of course.

Basil was born

Neil gave some attention to Basil and Anna and tried to get Basil’s attention. But then he went back to working on his charisma.

Anna cuddled her little boy and gave him his first bottle of milk. Then she put him gently into the crib that had been prepared in the nursery.

Neil, Anna and Basil

Basil turned out to be a sweet baby and didn’t demand his parents attentions too much. Therefore, Anna picked up working on her skills again and had them soon maxed out. She was very glad she could take off the silly hat for ever and concentrate on teaching her boy.

Neil hardly looked up from his painting when Anna told him about her successs. He said that she did well and then drew his attention to his painting again.

Anna has maxed skills

(Note Anna didn’t have the “maxed all skills-sign” over her head unfortunately, but this picture is taken directly afterwards. It really goes with the story though)

The next day, Anna didn’t have to go to work and she enjoyed nursing Basil. She bathed him in the sink and cuddled him a lot. She liked the smell of her little boy and softly sang him a lullaby. Feeding Basil felt like a very intimate moment to Anna and she didn’t mind Neil wasn’t around to give Basil his bottle of milk. Being a mother had definitely changed her life, but she wouldn’t want to go back in a million years.

Anna batheing Basil

When Neil came home from work, he didn’t seem to be interested in Anna’s stories about feeding and batheing and diapers. Anna just told him he was getting boring and tried to get his attention by goosing him. This seemed to create the wanted reaction from Neil and soon Anna and Neil were enjoying themselves in their bedroom.

Anna goosing Neil

They quickly left the bed when they heard little Basil cry. He really needed to get his milk and they would celebrate his birthday this evening. Anna quickly dressed and set up the cake, while Neil took Basil from his crib. They sang to him and Neil blew out the candles.

Basil's first birthday

Then Basil grew up to become a cute toddler. Apparently he hadn’t inherited Neil’s big nose.

Very soon, Anna felt her body change in a familiar way. Only this time the signs were more present. She wasn’t just sick, she threw up several times during the day. Another home pregnancy test soon proved that Anna was pregnant again. Basil would have a little brother or sister. Maybe a second child could distract Neil more from his work.

Anna pregnant again

Lately Neil had become an Icon and had started his own company. With this company he was hoping to fulfill his lifetime want. Anna was just hoping that he would stop being obsessed by money once he became a business tycoon. With one toddler and one baby on the way, she really needed Neil beside her.

On the other hand, she loved to spend time with Basil and enjoyed very much to teach him all sorts of things. He seemed to have a head full of ideas, so Anna helped him to learn to talk first. Maybe it would help Basil if he could express everything that went on in that little head.

Teaching Basil to talk

Soon he wanted to explore more of the house and crawling wasn’t fast enough to his taste. So Anna patiently learned him to walk too. She would regret that soon, because from then on she had to run after him throughout the house. But well, as long as Basil was happy.

Teaching Basil to walk

When she was in her first trimester, she really felt she had to change her routines with Basil. He was very outgoing and liked to explore everything. Everything seemed a toy to him too. So Anna tried to change their routine in a more relaxing one. She often talked to him and sang songs to him. That did distract him from the rest of the house for 5 minutes only and then he wanted to walk again.

Then one day, she gave Basil a rabbit. This was the best thing she could have done. The talking and moving rabbit caught all of Basil’s attention and Anna just sat by him and encouraged him. She also tried to tell him about the baby, the little brother or sister that would soon be born. Basil didn’t seem to understand though and Anna decided to wait some more. Soon Basil would become a child and maybe he would understand better what would happen.

Talking about baby

Basil’s birthday passed almost unnoticed. Anna didn’t have the energy to make a cake and Neil hadn’t thought about it. He thought about expanding the house and filling it with expensive furniture. But buying anything simple like a birthday cake didn’t come to his mind. Anna stopped nagging about it and just concentrated on Basil’s birthday. It was his day and she wanted him to have a happy memory about it.

Basil grew up to be a child without giving the impression the missed the cake or anything. He just was happy he was a big boy now and could go to school. He was hoping to make friends there.

Basil grew up to a child

The next morning Anna woke up because of the contractions. Apparently the contractions had already started during the night and very soon she could start pushing.

Anna in labour

Neil tried to contact the midwife, but she was too late. The baby already been born before Neil was back to comfort Anna. They had another son and Anna named him Beau. She was hoping she would make their life more beautiful.

Beau is born

  1. Awww, a couple of sweet baby boys for Anna and Neil. Although, I have to say I’m not sure I’m liking how little attention Neil is paying to his wife. I had hoped he would be a better husband than that.

  2. Aww … this one has her skintone. What a nice, colorful family you have! Hehe. I love that the blonde hair seems to be dominant … even with a dark-skinned child. I love the contrast. :O) And what’s with knowledge sims and money sims carrying only about knowledge or money?! They need as swift kick in the butt! ;O)

  3. Just sit tight and wait for new updates to come. This family is going to be shaken up.

Really, Neil is getting to be the most boring sim to play. He never has wants involving other people of his family, except that he wants Basil to go to private school. No kissing Anna, no playing with his kids. Just painting masterpieces, writing novels, buy some expensive furniture and get promoted.

  4. This story is so sweet, both Basil and Beau are names I’ve used before and like very much. Anna seems very content with her boys , fortune sims are happiest when they buy things ::::sigh::: oh well at least Neil is providing a home for his family. ;)

  5. Yes, I have to agree with the others. Neil is being a great provider, but sadly those types sometimes concentrate so much on ‘providing’ they forget to pass around hugs and kisses every now and then. lol

  6. Hey there! I just came across your blog and read it all! Very cool beginning to your legacy. I love making “colorful” families, and seeing what kind of descendants come out of it! I’ll be stopping in a bunch to follow up on your family! Great job!

  8. Great update! I look forward to seeing how you handle Neil. He does seem to be a bit on the boring side. Maybe makes for some good cow plant fodder or something. ;)
