Generation 1 - Chapter 5
Finally the wedding day had come for Anna and Neil. Because they had chosen to have a small ceremony, Anna decided to go to work first. The former Chief of Staff had just retired and she might become the next one. To show off her motivation and her skills, she didn’t want to miss a day’s work.
When stepping out of the car, she saw that Neil had taken care of everything perfectly. The place near the pond was just marvelous and the wedding arch looked lovely. The catering had already been provided for. All they had to do was get changed and wait for the guests.

They had invited every member from the Greek House and some of Anna’s collegues to attend the wedding. Like Anna, Neil didn’t have any family that he knew of, so they considered their closest friends as their family. Felicia and Houston were best man and bridesmaid, of course.
They exchanged their vows, that they had written personally and the guests were touched by the love that resounded in them. Then Anna put the wedding ring on Neil’s finger and vice versa. They were pronounced man and wife by the minister.

They didn’t need any encouragement for the first kiss as man and wife. The guests cheered and applauded as their lips touched and Neil and Anna enjoyed their first official kiss.

Of course the next thing was the cutting of the cake. This wedding turned out to get too serious to Anna’s taste so she decided to stuff the cake into Neil’s mouth. Neil was very surprized and the guests were laughing. Finally the ice was broken and the guests started to loosen up a bit.

Everybody was talking to each other and some were even watching soccer on TV. Others enjoyed to dance. And Anna was just happy to see all the familiar faces from college. She had a lot of catching up to do with Felicia, who still hadn’t advanced very much in her studies. Apparently her relationship with Houston distracted her very much from her books and classes. She did enough to avoid being expelled but that was about it.
Houston wasn’t acting much better and hadn’t even passed the first year yet. He spent way too many time making friends around campus and having a good time with Felicia to take studying seriously. They would probably stay in the Greek House for quite some time.
When the guests finally went home, Anna and Neil snuggled up in their bedroom. This wedding had been very much like they had wanted to. They had gotten some wonderful gifts and had enjoyed the chatting with old and new friends. And now they were finally married, ready to spend the rest of their lifes together.

(Note Neil and Anna had a roof raiser party and did go off on the limo. I just thought the honeymoon didn’t suit their story so I left it out.)
After the wedding Anna and Neil continued their normal routine and went to work. But not everything stayed the same. Anna had been promoted to Chief of Staff and thus fulfilled her lifetime want. She had expected to come home very happy that day, but instead she felt really sick. There were also some other things about her body that weren’t like normal. Being trained as a doctor, she already knew the reason for this: she was probably pregnant.
She quickly sent off her collegue Joe Carr, because she felt too miserable to have company. She wanted to be with Neil only and share the news with him.

Of course Neil was very happy to hear about Anna’s probable pregnancy. However, he wasn’t a doctor and he wanted to be sure. So he went out to buy a homepregnancy test. It was positive, so they were definitely expecting a baby.
Some time later, Anna started to show and had to stay home . After becoming chief of staff she had been asked to join the natural science department of the research center that the hospital was related to. She had accepted gladly, because being chief of staff was too much about managing and too little about research and deceases. However, it was a policy that pregnant women had to stay home for safety of mother and child.
Anna didn’t mind to stay home. When Neil went to his work, Anna spent all of her time learning more new skills. She was very close to maxing them all out. As long as she felt energetic and well, this was a very good way to spend the day.

Neil was close to becoming a Hall of Famer and started to become a famous person throughout Flower Valley. Occasionally he was asked to participate in a talk show and he also had some small parts in commercials. They had enough cash to start expending their home and build a nursery.
In the end Neil made his last promotion. He didn’t work long as a Hall of Famer, because he immediately accepted an offer from a showbusiness company. They had watched him for a while and thought he was a potential icon. Neil didn’t care much about how he made his money, as long as he received a regular and large check. Although they could easily provide for their little family, Neil never seemed to have enough and still spent a lot of his spare time painting.
Being in the last trimester, Anna felt her pregnancy started to ask more of her. She often retreated to the grass near the pond to meditate and find her peace of mind.

She didn’t know exactly what was going to happen after the baby was born, but it would probably mean a large change for her and Neil. She knew she was ready to change her way of life and take care of the baby. In fact she looked forward to meet the new Flowers family member and was curious what he or she would look like. She imagined the feeding and nursing, the potty training and the teaching to talk and walk. All this would have more priority than her learning skills or making promotion.
Anna wasn’t so sure about Neil feeling the same way. Would he start to spent less time working and painting? Or was he just coping with the coming changes in the only way he knew and would he be a natural father to their baby? Anna tried to stop herself from thinking like this and most of the time the relaxing atmosphere near the pond would help her to do so.
In this way, Anna was spending the last period of her pregnancy, waiting for the baby to announce its arrival.

Can’t wait to see the new little one!
